Encouragement to Men
Posted May 29, 2006
The Spirit of the Lord spoke this verse to me earlier this morning. Proverbs 21:9 says, "It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman (Hebrew meaning: a woman of contentions) in a wide house (Hebrew meaning: an house of society)."
In Proverbs 13:10 it states, "Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom."
James 4:5-10 says, "Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? v.5
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. v.6
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. v.7
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. v.8
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. v.9
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." v.10
In Ephesians 5:18-33 it states, "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; v.18
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; v.19
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; v.20
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. v.21
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. v.22
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. v.23
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. v.24
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; v.25
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, v.26
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. v.27
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. v.28
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: v.29
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. v.30
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. v.31
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. v.32
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband." v.33
The purpose of the Spirit of God speaking through the Apostle Paul to write these passages of scripture is to show husbands how they are to walk in the church. First of all, they must be filled with the Spirit and walking in the Spirit. They will speak the things of the Spirit to their wives and through the husband the wife will be corrected, as Christ corrects the church. The purpose is clear to sanctify and cleanse the wife with the washing of the water by the word.
God bless you,
