Yokosuka, Japan
Posted July 17, 2019
The Lord blessed me from my youth. At age twenty he told me to marry Patti Tinkle. We were married June 5, 1952, while I was serving in the United States Navy. Our only child, Kathy Jane was born in October 1953, Oakland California. When Kathy was just past six months of age, she and Patti joined me in Japan. We lived in a Japanese house in Kamakura for sixteen months. Our neighbors were Japanese along with a U.S. Navy captain and family. Kamakura was on the Pacific. I have seen an estimated one hundred thousand people on the beach on a Sunday. I rode a train to work at Yokosuka Naval Hospital and back. We had come a long way from the small town of Sarcoxie, Missouri. As a young sailor, married and a father, living in Japan was a great experience for all of us.
God bless,
