Ministering to the Poor

Posted August 14, 2006

In the summer of 1987, God directed me to start a mission in McKinney, Texas, ministering the word of God to his people and giving them food and clothing. We moved the mission to the west wing of Water of Life Church in Plano in 1988 and continued until March 1999, at which time I thought it was right to stop it. I can see now that it was not the perfect will of God. From that point in time until now, I never ceased to make sure that this ministry gave to the poor. We still have the same facilities and are beginning to minister to the poor again from the west wing.

In John 13:29 it says, "For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor."

We see here that it was common knowledge among the disciples that Jesus gave to the poor.

In Galatians 2, the Apostle Paul writes about his fellowship with James, Peter, and John. Verse 9 and 10 says, "And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. v.9

Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do." v.10

Proverbs 21:13, "Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard."

Proverbs 19:17, "He that hath pity upon the poor, lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again."

Proverbs 28:27, "He that giveth unto the poor, shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse."

Proverbs 29:7, "The righteous considereth the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it."

God bless you,
